Origin Live Strata Plattenmatte
Die Strata Mat ist eine Neuentwicklung des britischen Herstellers Origin Live, die tatsächlich mehrere Jahre in Anspruch genommen hat. Laut Inhaber Mark Baker ist das Problem der klassischen Plattenmatte, dass sie durch ihren Materialmix immer nur in einem bestimmten Frequenzbereich gut funktioniert. Für die erste Plattenmatte von Origin Live hat er daher einen eigenen Materialmix fertigen lassen und eine sehr dünne Konstruktion ermöglicht, die sich seitdem auf tausenden Plattenspieler wiederfindet.
Die neue Strata Mat ist jedoch von ganz anderem Kaliber. Mit einer Dicke von satten 5 Millimetern wendet sie sich nur an Menschen mit höhenverstellbaren Tonarmen. Sie besteht aus mehreren Materiallagen. In ihrem Zentrum soll sie keine Unterstützung für die LP bieten. Die Strata Mat ist minimal kleiner als eine LP.
Hat das klangliche Ergebnis etwas mit der teilweisen Verklebung der drei Schichten zu tun? Und warum funktioniert sie auf Glas, Metall und Acryl gleichermaßen? Welche drei Schichten mögen das sein? Was genau Mark Baker sich da hat einfallen lassen, verrät er nicht. Doch das klangliche Ergebnis ist umwerfend.
Das Rillengeräusch scheint sich mit der Strata Mat über den gesamten Frequenzbereich abzusenken. Musik erscheint größer, klarer und druckvoller und ändert dabei erstaunlicherweise die Tonalität gegenüber der "kleinen" Plattenmatte überhaupt nicht. Gerade zuvor leicht anstrengende Aufnahmen scheinen besonders zu profitieren, während zuvor schon tolle LPs jetzt einfach noch beeindruckender klingen.
Anwendungshinweise
1. Entfernen sie die vorherige Matte und legen sie diese weder unter noch auf die Strata Mat.
2. Der Tonarm muss in der Höhe neu eingestellt werden. Da viele Filzmatten rund 2 Millimeter dick sind, müssen häufig weitere 3 Millimeter an Höhe dazu.
3. Die Strata Mat darf leicht exzentrisch sein. Das tut dem Klang keinen Abbruch.
4. Die Strata Mat regelmäßig trocken abbürsten und wenn diese abgenommen wird, unbedingt flach lagern.
