The LTA-710, a statically balanced tonearm equipped with knife-edge bearing technology, was developed specifically for the PD-191A, ensuring excellent sensitivity from the very first movements. The LTA-710 is a joint development with the audio brand SAEC, which has been developing tonearms for more than 40 years, and brings many proven technologies to the LUXMAN turntable family. It is a fully original tonearm design that took two and a half years to develop. By setting the effective arm length to 10 inches (254 mm), tracking errors are further suppressed and resistance to record surface vibrations is increased. Even the faint musical signals that the cartridge picks up from the record grooves are faithfully reproduced. This is only possible because the tonearm is assembled with high mechanical precision to ensure fidelity.

The drive motor is a fundamental component of any belt-driven analog player, where powerful and stable platter rotation is paramount. The PD-191A features a high-precision, high-torque, brushless DC motor supported by a floating, high-capacity, high-stability, and fully regulated power transformer, upgraded to higher specifications for today's preferred high-mass turntables. Our sine-wave PWM/PID speed control* ensures consistent and accurate speed control under varying requirements, and a high-performance reference clock for speed correction, which utilizes a MEMS oscillator with excellent temperature characteristics, enables the best results. This ensures precise speeds and a smooth platter drive.

*PID speed control: "Proportional: Proportional mode" for rapid adaptation to the set speed, "Integral: Integral mode" for a control system that corrects even the smallest errors, and "Differential: Differential mode" for rapid self-adaptation in the event of speed fluctuations. The PD-191A programming system fully integrates these controls into the drive motor unit.

The platter chosen for the PD-91A is a 35 mm thick, 5.2 kg heavy platter milled from a single, extremely thick block of aluminum. Precision diamond-ground, it has a precise surface that reflects light beautifully. The platter acts like a flywheel with an enormous moment of inertia of 0.7 t cm², ensuring smooth and reliable rotation. The spindle that supports the platter is characterized by its high rigidity. It consists of a high-strength stainless steel shaft (16 mm diameter) and a custom-designed bearing system. This structure combines a PEEK* thrust bearing with its excellent heat and wear resistance with a matched brass radial bearing filled with organic molybdenum oil, which maintains stable lubrication even under heavy loads. The motor's energy is transferred to the turntable via an age-resistant EPDM* drive belt, which transmits the high torque of the brushless DC motor without loss.

The selection and craftsmanship of the external and structural materials used in the device are very important to us, as we believe that operating an analog playback device should be a tactile and visually satisfying experience for the listener. The PD-191A is a feast for the eyes, elegant and refined, with a rosewood-stained, solid natural wood front panel with a beautiful glossy finish that contrasts with the carefully treated aluminum top panel. By offsetting the motor to the lower part of the chassis, we also achieved an elegant shape with a low center of gravity and an overall height that is 12 mm lower than its predecessor, the PD-171A. By concentrating the operating system, such as power supply, turntable start/stop, rotation speed switching, and adjustment, on the top panel, we also strived for practical and functional beauty. Available separately and highly recommended is a custom-made 4 mm thick acrylic dust cover, equipped with hinges that allow for easy opening and smooth closing.
