Luxman P-100 Centennial Headphone Amplifier
We think
The Luxman P-100 Centennial is a headphone amplifier that not only delivers power, but also makes a statement—an anniversary model that combines 100 years of Luxman experience with state-of-the-art technology. It allows music lovers to hear every note—both quiet and loud—with precision, musicality, and power. Those who view headphones not as an afterthought, but as a personal audio center, will find the P-100 Centennial a partner that meets the highest acoustic and tactile demands.
Product presentation
The Luxman P-100 Centennial is the new flagship headphone amplifier in the Centennial series. It features a fully balanced architecture , amplified by four independent amplifier blocks optimized by the modern LIFES Feedback Engine .
On the output side, the P-100 offers both balanced and unbalanced outputs : There are φ6.3 mm (unbalanced), φ4.4 mm and 4-pin XLR (balanced), as well as additional modes such as BTL Balanced Output , and the possibility of operating two P-100 units in parallel for particularly high performance.
The LECUA-EX system handles volume control, electronically controlled with 200 steps in 0.5 dB increments—including sensitivity switching, left/right balance adjustment, and a volume limit. A large 7-segment LED display on the front panel shows the exact level numerically, allowing for control and clarity even at low volume settings.
Special features
Variety of outputs and modes – Balanced, unbalanced, BTL, and parallel circuits offer flexibility to optimally drive a wide variety of headphones.
LECUA-EX volume control – 200 fixed levels, 0.5 dB steps, balance and volume limiter integrated so that levels can be set precisely and safely.
LIFES Feedback Engine – the new analysis and feedback technology that aims to halve distortion and improve the signal-to-noise ratio.
High-capacity power supply – two OI-type transformers (one per channel), plus a separate transformer for controlling LEDs, relays, etc. Numerous large filter capacitors (10,000 µF in the output section, 3,300 µF in the driver section) ensure stable performance even during peak loads.
Robust, high-quality housing – highly rigid chassis, protected connections, heavy steel base plate, stepped feet with heavy weight, hairline finish and anniversary nameplate (“Centennial”) on the front.
Technology & Materials
The internal wiring utilizes spiral-shielded OFC cables , unplated conductor cores, and relays with parallel low-impedance circuitry for the output lines. The output section is designed for very low impedances, ensuring stable drive even for demanding headphones.
Balanced signal paths are similarly dimensioned to unbalanced ones, but with clean separation to minimize channel interference. The LIFES amplifier blocks are discrete, with a design optimized for linearity even at low volumes.
Sustainability & Manufacturing
The P-100 Centennial is manufactured with the utmost care. Materials and mechanical construction are designed for long-term durability. The housing, connectors, and control knobs are robust and manufactured to a high quality. Spare parts and service are traditionally guaranteed.

Test reports / press reviews
Connect writes:
"Who is the Luxman P-100 Centennial suitable for? For audiophiles with high demands on sound quality, performance, and workmanship – this headphone amplifier combines everything: power, control, and the highest quality materials."
International reviews are praising the system: Darko Audio emphasizes that the new LIFES Feedback Engine significantly reduces distortion and noticeably improves the signal-to-noise ratio compared to previous models. They also highlight the precise volume control (LECUA-EX) and the flexibility of the connections, such as balanced, unbalanced, and BTL modes.
Background / History / Development
The P-100 Centennial is part of the Centennial series , launched to celebrate Luxman's 100th anniversary. The goal was to create a headphone amplifier model that not only sets standards in performance and technology, but also offers top-notch design, craftsmanship, and features.
Luxman chose the new LIFES engine and a variety of modes and outputs for this model to optimally serve a wide variety of headphones and listening experiences. The amplifier reflects Luxman's heritage while simultaneously striving to deliver relevant high-end standards for decades to come.
Basic knowledge
Balanced vs. Unbalanced Output: Balanced outputs use separate conductors for the signal, are more robust against interference, and exhibit better channel separation; unbalanced is more common and easier to use.
LIFES Feedback Technology: A modern feedback technology that suppresses distortion without making the sound sterile – it preserves dynamics and liveliness.
LECUA-EX volume control: Electronically controlled attenuator steps allow precise adjustment of the level in small increments; volume limiting also protects the earpiece and headphones.
Safety instructions
Electronic devices:
1. General Use: • Electronic devices are designed for use in enclosed, dry rooms only. Direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures may impair function. • Avoid proximity to water sources or other liquids. 2. Electrical Safety: • Use only with the specified power source (e.g., 220-240 V AC). An incorrect power source may damage the device or be hazardous. • Never connect the device to overloaded outlets or extension cords. • If there is any visible damage to the power cord or other components, do not operate the device. 3. Operation and Ventilation: • Place the device on a stable, flat surface. Do not block any ventilation slots to prevent overheating. • Ensure sufficient distance from other devices or walls (at least 10 cm) to ensure optimal ventilation. 4. Children and Pets: • Keep the device away from children and pets, especially small parts that could be swallowed.
Speakers:
1. Setup: • Place speakers on a stable and secure surface or use suitable speaker stands. Tipping over may cause injury or damage. • Position speakers so they are not obstructed and optimal sound dispersion is ensured. 2. Environmental Conditions: • Speakers are intended for use in dry, enclosed spaces. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight, which could damage materials or electronics. 3. Connections: • Use only compatible amplifiers and cables that meet the speaker's technical specifications. • Avoid incorrect polarity connections to prevent damage to the speaker or amplifier. 4. Children and Pets: • Speakers are not toys. Make sure they are placed out of reach of children and pets. 5. Care: • Clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or water.
Cable:
1. Use: • Cables are for their intended use only. Use them only with devices that meet the cable's technical specifications. • Ensure that all connections are secure and tight for optimum performance. 2. Handling: • Never pull on the cable to remove it from a device. Always hold the plug firmly. • Do not bend, overstretch, or place excessive strain on the cable. Cables should not run under heavy objects. 3. Children and Pets: • Keep cables away from children and pets as they can be a strangulation or injury hazard. 4.
