Luxman L-507Z integrated amplifier
We think
The Luxman L-507Z is a statement among integrated amplifiers, demonstrating what high-end can sound like today. This amplifier combines traditional Luxman design with state-of-the-art technology in a way that neither loses the warmth and character of the brand nor neglects current demands for precision, dynamics, and features. Anyone who wants to experience music intensely—from softly played passages to orchestral thunderstorms—will find the L-507Z a reliable partner. It feels like a promise: music as authentic as possible.
Product presentation
The Luxman L-507Z sits at the center of the new Z series , priced and technically superior to the L-505Z , with features that eclipse many of its predecessors. It delivers 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 210 watts per channel into 4 ohms , enough power to reliably drive even demanding speakers. Its design is a true dual-mono layout : The power amplifiers are separate for each channel, resulting in better channel separation, lower distortion, and smoother playback.
The power supply is generously dimensioned: an EI power transformer with multiple taps and eight 10,000 µF filter capacitors ensure stable voltage under load, good impulse response, and low influence of supply noise. LECUA1000 technology is used for volume control—an electronically controlled, 88-step control that allows for fine adjustment of volume and balance.
The equipment includes MM/MC phono input as well as balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (Cinch/RCA) inputs, a pre-/pre-out , two headphone outputs (6.3 mm and 4.4 mm Pentaconn with separate ground connection) , tone controls (bass, treble, balance) and classic features such as volume control, speaker pair A/B switching, etc. Visually, it impresses with its solid aluminum front, VU meter, LED level display between the VU instruments and clean workmanship.
Special features
What makes the L-507Z special:
-
LIFES 1.0 Feedback Engine : This further development of the classic ODNF technology is said to have noticeably reduced distortion and delivers a more dynamic, natural sound.
-
88-step LECUA1000 volume control and balance function, electronically controlled, channel-equal, quiet and precise.
-
Massive supply and filter capacity : eight filter capacitors of 10,000 µF each, generously dimensioned power supply.
-
Dual mono power amplifiers and careful layout with short signal paths (e.g. rounded conductors, “Beeline” concept) to minimize distortion and losses.
-
Balanced outputs and headphone features : Two headphone outputs, one of which is 4.4 mm with separate ground.
-
Tone controls (bass, treble, balance) , speaker pair switching, phono (MM/MC) , separable preamplifier – all this increases flexibility.
Technology & Materials
The L-507Z incorporates sophisticated technology and high-quality components. The power amplifier is based on a Class AB push-pull configuration , with a three-stage Darlington cascade and parallel power transistors – this delivers power, stability, and control, especially with dynamic players and large speakers. The input stage and preamplifier circuitry are carefully shielded, with sophisticated layout techniques such as rounded conductors that contribute to reduced distortion.
The housing is solid, the front panel is made of aluminum , and the workmanship is of the highest quality, with sturdy jacks, high-quality rotary controls, and precise volume control. Cooling is provided by generous heat sinks —the unit weighs approximately 25.4 kg . The mechanical design focuses on decoupling and stable mounting to keep resonances to a minimum.
Sustainability & Manufacturing
Luxman manufactures the L-507Z in Japan with a high level of vertical integration. The quality and materials are selected for long-term stability: robust transformers, durable filter elements, solid components, and solid mechanics demonstrate this. The goal is to build devices that can provide many years of service. Luxman's spare parts supply and service standards are excellent. The workmanship and finish also demonstrate that you're not buying a disposable product, but a device that will last.

Test reports / press reviews
LowBeats writes:
"With the L-507Z for €9,500, Luxman is already setting the standards for the upcoming Z series. A superb integrated amplifier! ... The great advantage of the new Luxman is its incredibly open and fast, yet equally sonorous way of presenting things."
fairaudio.de praises the L-507Z as a "very well-rounded package with good features and all-round sonic capabilities, and because it is also perfectly crafted and seems built to last." It continues: "If you're looking for an integrated amplifier with digital playback capabilities, the Luxman L-507Z is the wrong choice—but for most other audio needs, it's perfectly equipped... It sounds more open and fresh than you might expect from Luxman... (even) more neutral."
SoundStage Ultra particularly praises its appearance, feel, and features: solid aluminum front, VU meter, new level display, high-quality knobs , and very good quality control elements.
Background / History / Development
The Luxman L-507Z is the first integrated amplifier above the L-505Z in the new Z series —not a mere update, but a clearly enhanced concept. With this model, Luxman relies on sophisticated feedback technologies (LIFES) , an improved layout, dual monaural power amplifier modules, and more careful material selection. The changes aren't radical in terms of aesthetics—the design remains classic Luxman with its VU meter, solid front panel, and clean lines —but it's noticeably advanced in terms of technology and sound.
Basic knowledge
The dual-mono design means that both channels have electrically and mechanically separated power amplifiers. This reduces mutual interference and improves channel separation and detail.
Class-AB push-pull technology combines the advantages of Class-A and Class-B: high performance with moderate quiescent current, controlled and powerful sound even at medium to high volumes.
Feedback technology (LIFES / ODNF): Negative feedback is used to reduce distortion, but excessive feedback can distort the sound. LIFES strives to optimize this balance—minimizing imbalance while maintaining clear control.
Safety instructions
Electronic devices:
1. General Use: • Electronic devices are designed for use in enclosed, dry rooms only. Direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures may impair function. • Avoid proximity to water sources or other liquids. 2. Electrical Safety: • Use only with the specified power source (e.g., 220-240 V AC). An incorrect power source may damage the device or be hazardous. • Never connect the device to overloaded outlets or extension cords. • If there is any visible damage to the power cord or other components, do not operate the device. 3. Operation and Ventilation: • Place the device on a stable, flat surface.
