Luxman DA-07X D/A converter
We think
The Luxman DA-07X is a reference DAC that not only digitally "translates" music, but also allows you to experience its full depth and substance. A device that clearly demonstrates that modern DACs can deliver warmth, dynamics, and structure – without a sterile quality. Those who value high-resolution formats, perfect conversion, and a well-designed connection panel will find the DA-07X a DAC that simply eliminates many of the weaknesses of digital audio.
Product presentation
The Luxman DA-07X is a high-end D/A converter from the Z/NeoClassico line. It utilizes a dual-mono configuration with two ROHM BD34301EKV MUS-IC series chips, along with ordered clock technology, to accurately reproduce PCM signals up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD up to 22.5 MHz .
Six digital sources are available on the input side: USB-B, AES/EBU, two each of optical and coaxial. Additionally, there are two optical and one coaxial digital outputs for forwarding incoming digital signals. Analog outputs are available for the DA-07X, both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) .
The housing is robust and carefully crafted: a front made of white-blasted aluminum, a high-quality OLED display, easy to read and clearly structured. The device features an anti-vibration design with a thick chassis, stable base plate, and sturdy feet.
Special features
Dual-mono architecture – each DAC chip serves a single channel, with separate signal paths. This results in better channel separation and lower distortion.
Wide connection panel – with two inputs for USB, two optical and coaxial, AES/EBU, plus digital and analog output options, as well as phase inversion and filter selection.
Filter and optimization functions – unneeded signal paths can be switched off to reduce noise; discrete buffer and low-pass stages before the output improve the analog inputs.
High sampling and bitrate compatibility – PCM up to 768 kHz, DSD up to 22.5 MHz; full MQA decoding.
Analog output quality – clean current/voltage converter sections, high-quality components, and sophisticated layouts ensure that the analog stage appears lively, deep, and stable.
Technology & Materials
The internal wiring is made of high-purity copper (OFC), and the conductor tracks are not sharply angled (non-angled layout) to minimize signal loss and distortion.
The power supply is provided by a linearly stabilized power supply, filter capacitors are large, and each circuit unit has its own control.
The output stages are designed as discrete buffer stages with fully symmetrical signal routing and careful selection of components for high precision even with quiet signals.
Sustainability & Manufacturing
The DA-07X is manufactured with the utmost care in Japan. Materials and mechanical construction are built to last, featuring a solid metal housing, low-vibration feet, and good shielding against electromagnetic interference. Spare parts availability and excellent customer service are part of the quality promise.

Test reports / press reviews
Fidelity writes:
"The double bass sounds more realistic on the new DA-07X, as the resonance of the wooden body is transmitted even more accurately. ... The bass range is very confident, noticeable even with smaller speakers."
Fairaudio says:
"The DA-07X supports PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD up to 22.5 MHz. ROHM's dual-mono converter chips, combined with an optimized output stage, ensure that the device delivers exceptionally detailed playback and digital sources appear very natural."
Background / History / Development
The DA-07X builds on the development of the D-07X SACD/CD player, adopting its DAC section and optimizing it as a pure DAC without a drive. Luxman focuses on digital sources, high dynamic range, high sampling rates, and technical perfection. The design combines familiar Luxman elements with new improvements in layout, clocking, and power supply.
Basic knowledge
Dual-mono DAC architecture: Each channel has its own converter chip, which reduces channel crosstalk and makes the soundstage more stable.
PCM vs. DSD formats: PCM works with fixed sampling rates and word widths, DSD uses a different approach with high frequency and a simple signal model – both have advantages and disadvantages.
MQA decoding: Enables lossless playback of specified digital recordings with additional information from the master file.
Signal-to-noise ratio (S/N): A high value means that quiet background details are represented without audible background noise, especially important for high-quality DACs.
Safety instructions
Electronic devices:
1. General Use: • Electronic devices are designed for use in enclosed, dry rooms only. Direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures may impair function. • Avoid proximity to water sources or other liquids. 2. Electrical Safety: • Use only with the specified power source (e.g., 220-240 V AC). An incorrect power source may damage the device or be hazardous. • Never connect the device to overloaded outlets or extension cords. • If there is any visible damage to the power cord or other components, do not operate the device. 3. Operation and Ventilation: • Place the device on a stable, flat surface. Do not block any ventilation slots to prevent overheating. • Ensure sufficient distance from other devices or walls (at least 10 cm) to ensure optimal ventilation. 4. Children and Pets: • Keep the device away from children and pets, especially small parts that could be swallowed.
Speakers:
1. Setup: • Place speakers on a stable and secure surface or use suitable speaker stands. Tipping over may cause injury or damage. • Position speakers so they are not obstructed and optimal sound dispersion is ensured. 2. Environmental Conditions: • Speakers are intended for use in dry, enclosed spaces. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight, which could damage materials or electronics. 3. Connections: • Use only compatible amplifiers and cables that meet the speaker's technical specifications. • Avoid incorrect polarity connections to prevent damage to the speaker or amplifier. 4. Children and Pets: • Speakers are not toys. Make sure they are placed out of reach of children and pets. 5. Care: • Clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or water.
Cable:
1. Use: • Cables are for their intended use only. Use them only with devices that meet the cable's technical specifications. • Ensure that all connections are secure and tight for optimum performance. 2. Handling: • Never pull on the cable to remove it from a device. Always hold the plug firmly. • Do not bend, overstretch, or place excessive strain on the cable. Cables should not run under heavy objects. 3. Children and Pets: • Keep cables away from children and pets as they can be a strangulation or injury hazard. 4. Inspection: • Check cables regularly for visible damage such as breaks, cracks, or frayed ends. Damaged cables must be replaced immediately.
