We think

We believe the Luxman D-10X is the musical pinnacle among SACD/CD players—a device that not only plays physical discs, but also processes digital inputs and audio data formats in a new dimension. Anyone with a high-end setup and keen to maximize every signal will find the D-10X the perfect centerpiece: opulent features, uncompromising workmanship, and top-notch sound.

Product presentation

The Luxman D-10X is part of the premium "X-Series" and combines a robust SACD/CD drive with excellent DAC technology in a dual-mono configuration. The drive is called the LxDTM-i (Luxman original Disc Transport Mechanism – improved), featuring a strong metal chassis, thicker wall panels, and reinforced mechanics.

In addition to SACD and CD, it supports MQA CDs , USB inputs with PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD up to 22.4 MHz , as well as optical and coaxial inputs with PCM up to 192 kHz/24 bit . The outputs are designed for both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) , both analog and digital.

The case appears both solid and elegant: a thick front panel, sturdy buttons, a large, clear display, and high-quality materials. Both visually and mechanically, the D-10X demonstrates design maturity and sophistication that goes beyond purely technical functionality.

Special features

Dual mono DACs – two identical ROHM BD34301EKV chips, each per channel, for maximum channel separation and lowest distortion.

LxDTM-i drive – mechanically improved, with robust construction and steel/aluminum components, reduces mechanical resonances and improves the read performance of data media.

Versatile digital inputs including USB – ideal for integrating external sources in high resolution; high sampling rates and bit depths can be used up to the limits of the specifications.

MQA support – Full decoding for both MQA CDs and digital files.

Powerful power supply & low distortion – Powerful power supply, extensive filter capacitors, solid circuitry for stable performance even during dynamic and loud passages.

Precise and high-quality operating concept – solid drive drawer, high-quality front buttons, zoom display function, phase reversal, and precisely tuned output stages.

Technology & Materials

The D-10X features high-quality components: gold-plated conductors, OFC wiring, separate circuits for each channel in a dual-mono design, careful shielding, and solid components.

Digital conversion is handled by state-of-the-art DAC chips, supported by precise clocking and a high-capacity power supply. The mechanics and chassis are designed to minimize mass and vibration paths to reduce interference.

Sustainability & Manufacturing

Luxman manufactures the D-10X with great care and a high level of vertical integration. Materials are designed for longevity, mechanical components are robust, spare parts are available, and the workmanship and finish are such that the device will continue to impress both visually and technically even after years.

Test reports / press reviews

Fidelity writes:
"I particularly liked the slightly sonorous undertone of the SACD playback, which revealed a very distinctive sound, especially in the viola parts of the quartets. Overall, the D-10X proves itself a true gentleman in SACD mode. Any kind of casualness, any kind of mumbling, is foreign to it."

Audio (Magazine) praises:
"The D-10X weighs in at a good 22 kilograms—a safe, primarily for the aforementioned silver discs. It can read CDs (of course), then SACDs... and even MQA CDs, because that's what the Japanese are clamoring for."

What Hi-Fi? judges:
"Luxman's D-10X is a gigantically capable digital source, superbly built... in SACD/CD playback, dynamic transitions, and resolution. If you want precision, you'll find it here."

Background / History / Development

The Luxman D-10X marks a new milestone in Luxman's digital player series. It replaces previous models like the D-08u and features significant improvements: a new DAC chip, modernized mechanics, improved power supply, and higher sampling rates.

With the X-Series, Luxman aims to combine the highest technical standards with an outstanding sound experience – and the D-10X clearly demonstrates the current state of this development.

Basic knowledge

Dual Mono DAC Architecture: Two separate DAC units – one chip per channel – ensure maximum channel separation and minimal interference between the stereo channels.

MQA CD vs. MQA files: MQA CDs are physical discs with embedded MQA data; MQA files can be loaded digitally. Both are fully decoded by the D-10X.

THD / Total Distortion: Measures how much the sound is altered by distortion. Very low values (like the D-10X) mean that sounds are reproduced very clearly and precisely.

Signal-to-noise ratio: ratio of desired signal to background noise; the higher this value, the quieter the background noise – especially important for quiet passages and high levels of detail.

Safety instructions

Electronic devices:
1. General Use: • Electronic devices are designed for use in enclosed, dry rooms only. Direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures may impair function. • Avoid proximity to water sources or other liquids. 2.
