We think

The Luxman D-07X is a pinnacle among SACD/CD players, handling physical media, digital inputs, and the highest conversion technology all at once. It's not a compromise, but a device for people who want to experience, not just hear. Music isn't just reproduced—it's brought into the here and now in a breathable, vibrant, and powerful way. Anyone seeking a component that offers superior sound, craftsmanship, and features will find the D-07X to be their benchmark.

Product presentation

The Luxman D-07X is part of the exclusive "X" series and combines a CD/SACD drive with a modern DAC in a single unit. SACD layer switching is possible, and the drive is robustly constructed with the LxDTM mechanism, a stable cabinet structure, side frames, and a die-cast drawer to minimize resonance.

It supports digital formats via USB, coaxial, and optical: PCM up to 768 kHz / 32-bit , DSD up to 22.4-22.5 MHz , and MQA including MQA CDs. Dual-mono ROHM BD34301EKV DACs ensure high channel separation and clean conversion.

The analog outputs are both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) . Digital outputs (optical, coaxial) are available, with an option to turn off the internal conversion. Mechanically and visually, the D-07X makes an impressive impression: a thick chassis, large, round buttons, a discreet display, and solid construction – a player that combines weight, size, and presence with class.

Special features

Dual Mono DACs – two identical DAC units, one per channel, working together for precise clocking and low jitter.

LxDTM drive – mechanically stable construction, reinforced side frames, die-cast drawer to keep loading and drive operation as vibration-free and precise as possible.

Generous digital input/output range – USB, optical, coaxial inputs; optical and coaxial outputs; switchable between CD/SACD and digital external; phase inversion available.

Robust power supply – significantly more powerful transformer than previous models, numerous filter capacitors and independent stabilization in critical circuit parts.

Elegant operating concept – clear, large controls, the essential functions are quickly accessible; display with track and format indicator; phase switching; good haptic feel.

Technology & Materials

The electronics are of high quality: OFC wiring , careful shielding, and circuit board layouts that route signal paths as directly as possible. DAC modules and buffer stages are designed to make outputs low-ohm and lower impedance, ensuring optimal performance even with demanding preamplifiers.

The mechanism and cabinet are solid: a heavy construction, a chassis with high torsional rigidity, and a stable loading mechanism with minimal play. The digital signal processing uses precise clocking and an optional FIR filter for DSD/SACD for sonic refinement.

Sustainability & Manufacturing

The D-07X is manufactured with a high degree of vertical integration. Luxman focuses on durable materials, mechanical stability, and high-quality finishes. Spare parts supply and maintenance are part of the brand. The device is designed to withstand many years of intensive use, both mechanically and electronically.

Test reports / press reviews

Fidelity writes:
"It looks like an oversized CD player, but it's an audiophile powerhouse: The Luxman D-07X marks a new class. Whether music from a disc, a file, or the internet, the player processes every signal at an absolute level of excellence."

Qobuz says:
"The D-07X positions itself as a high-end player capable of playing both classic audio CDs and the hi-res versions SACD and MQA. Thanks to its digital inputs, it can also convert audio from a streamer."

Absolute Sound highlights:
"As an SACD/CD player and DAC in one, the D-07X offers a smooth, never overly musical performance. It combines rich detail with long audibility—without aggressive highs."

Background / History / Development

The Luxman D-07X is part of the new "X" series, which combines classic CD/SACD playback with the latest digital formats (MQA, DSD, high PCM rates). It sits between the D-03X and D-10X models – offering many of the top-of-the-line features, but in a somewhat more accessible package. Luxman focuses on mechanics, drive, converter technology, and power supply at a level that will remain relevant for the coming decade.

Basic knowledge

Dual Mono DAC Architecture: Two identical DAC units each supply one channel – improves channel separation and reduces distortion.

MQA: Music format designed to provide additional quality over master recordings – on CD, streaming, etc.

Sampling rate / bit depth: The higher, the more detail – especially important for USB/digital inputs so that high-resolution signals are processed cleanly.

Signal-to-noise ratio (S/N): Measure of the ratio of useful signal to background noise – a high value means that quiet signals are detected cleanly and are not lost in the noise.

Safety instructions

Electronic devices:
1. General Use: • Electronic devices are designed for use in enclosed, dry rooms only. Direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures may impair function. • Avoid proximity to water sources or other liquids. 2. Electrical Safety: • Use only with the specified power source (e.g., 220-240 V AC). An incorrect power source may damage the device or be hazardous. • Never connect the device to overloaded outlets or extension cords. • If there is any visible damage to the power cord or other components, do not operate the device. 3. Operation and Ventilation: • Place the device on a stable, flat surface. Do not block any ventilation slots to prevent overheating. • Ensure sufficient distance from other devices or walls (at least 10 cm) to ensure optimal ventilation. 4. Children and Pets: • Keep the device away from children and pets, especially small parts that could be swallowed.
Speakers:
1. Setup: • Place speakers on a stable and secure surface or use suitable speaker stands. Tipping over may cause injury or damage. • Position speakers so they are not obstructed and optimal sound dispersion is ensured. 2. Environmental Conditions: • Speakers are intended for use in dry, enclosed spaces. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight, which could damage materials or electronics. 3. Connections: • Use only compatible amplifiers and cables that meet the speaker's technical specifications. • Avoid incorrect polarity connections to prevent damage to the speaker or amplifier. 4. Children and Pets: • Speakers are not toys. Make sure they are placed out of reach of children and pets. 5. Care: • Clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or water.
Cable:
1. Use: • Cables are for their intended use only. Use them only with devices that meet the cable's technical specifications. • Ensure that all connections are secure and tight for optimum performance. 2. Handling: • Never pull on the cable to remove it from a device. Always hold the plug firmly. • Do not bend, overstretch, or place excessive strain on the cable. Cables should not run under heavy objects. 3. Children and Pets: • Keep cables away from children and pets as they can be a strangulation or injury hazard. 4. Inspection: • Check cables regularly for visible damage such as breaks, cracks, or frayed ends. Damaged cables must be replaced immediately.
