It combines state-of-the-art technology with Luxman's acoustic intuition, ensuring music is not only reproduced precisely and powerfully, but also sounds vibrant, spacious, and nuanced in every register. Anyone who takes their system seriously and values the utmost detail and perfect control will find the C-10X a partner that will elevate their entire setup to the next level.
Product presentation
The Luxman C-10X is the flagship model among the Z-series control amplifiers and the successor to the renowned C-900u. It features fully balanced signal routing , enhanced by four identical preamplifier blocks that share common operating modes. As part of its features, the C-10X offers a maximum preamp gain of 15 dB , while its predecessor delivered 12 dB—ideal for precisely controlling even quiet sources.
Volume control is handled by the new LECUA-EX system, an electronically controlled attenuator circuit with 192 fixed steps from -95.5 to 0 dB in 0.5 dB increments . The rotary knob is weighted and provides a high-quality user feel. In addition to volume control, the C-10X offers balance control (from left -6 dB to right -6 dB), individual volume shifts in bi-amp mode (±6 dB per channel), and offset settings (0 to -6 dB per input) to harmonize the levels of different sources.
The unit features three balanced (XLR) and three unbalanced (RCA) inputs. Both balanced and unbalanced outputs are available, as well as a bi-amp mode, an external pre-input option, and separate volume controls for different outputs. Tone controls (bass/treble) and a volume-linked loudness mode are also integrated. The visual design features a brushed white front panel, a hairline finish on the top panel, large, legible display elements, and a fluorescent display with dimmer and zoom functions.

Technology & Materials
The C-10X's signal transmission follows strict luxury standards: Each channel is identical, the wiring is designed so that the traces are not abruptly bent (non-angled wiring pattern), and the materials in the signal path are of high purity and carefully selected. The sample signals (gain, offset, balance) are routed via high-quality components that minimize distortion.
The input sensitivity is 180 mV for both unbalanced and balanced modes at a load of 45 kΩ and 90 kΩ , respectively. The frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with ±0 dB / −0.1 dB , and from 5 Hz to 110 kHz with −3 dB in the extended range. The signal-to-noise ratio is 129 dB (unbalanced) and 132 dB (balanced) . Total harmonic distortion (THD) is specified as 0.005% for unbalanced and 0.003% for balanced (20 Hz - 20 kHz).
The performance costs in terms of power consumption are around 40 W during operation, the device weighs around 19.8 kg , dimensions are approx. 440 mm wide, 130 mm high, 434 mm deep - everything is solidly manufactured and robust.
Sustainability & Manufacturing
The C-10X is manufactured with high quality. Luxman relies on durable components, high-quality transformers, and generous power filters. Mechanical stability is achieved through a solid chassis and vibration dampening elements. All components are designed to meet the demands of many years of use. The controls are also user-friendly and built for a long service life – the knobs, switches, and display elements are robustly constructed. Luxman's spare parts supply and service culture are extensive, making the C-10X a lasting investment.

Test reports / press reviews
The Luxman C-10X has been hailed internationally by trade media as a worthy successor to the C-900u. What Hi-Fi emphasizes that the "new LIFES feedback engine," along with the "four fully balanced preamp blocks" and the "LECUA-EX" volume control, result in a noticeably smoother and more detailed sound. This review particularly praises the precise resonance of the midrange and the clarity in the treble range, without any loss of dynamics.
A detailed review by Pursuit Perfect System emphasized the quality of the volume control, as well as the appeal of having such a comprehensive preamplifier with many useful controls, such as output mode, volume offset, and loudness, all in one unit. This review also highlights that the C-10X is not only technically impressive, but also excels in practical applications when it comes to handling systems with different input sources and power requirements.
Background / History / Development
The Luxman C-10X was developed in preparation for Luxman's 100th anniversary. It replaces the C-900u as the new flagship in the preamplifier/control amplifier segment. The core goal was to incorporate the best feedback technologies (based on ODNF) into a new engine (LIFES-1.0), along with a volume control that remains clean even at fine levels (LECUA-EX). The design, materials, and operation were improved, and the cabinet and mechanics were redesigned to meet the demands of a flagship.
Basic knowledge
Feedback technology (ODNF / LIFES-1.0): Negative feedback is commonly used to reduce distortion. Luxman's ODNF system works by feeding back only distorted components. LIFES-1.0 is the modernized version, providing even more stable, precise feedback and further reducing distortion.
LECUA-EX Attenuator: Electronically controlled volume control via fixed resistance levels instead of potentiometers; the volume is adjusted in precise steps, the rotary knob has a high-quality haptic design, and the signal path remains as pure as possible.
Balanced vs. Unbalanced Signal Path: Balanced signal paths use balanced conductors and are better shielded against interference and signal loss; they often offer better channel separation and lower noise.
