We mean

The Korf Audio TA-SF11R Series II tonearm is an 11-inch tonearm that combines technical precision and flexible mounting options for demanding vinyl playback. It is designed for listeners who value robust mechanics, sensitive bearing guidance, and clear, unadulterated signal reproduction. Sonically, it is open and offers excellent control over dynamics and soundstage, without any added coloration or artificial effects. It is aimed at users seeking a solid, durable tonearm that also works well with medium to heavy cartridges.

Product presentation

The Korf Audio TA-SF11R Tonearm Series II is an 11-inch tonearm with an effective length of 278 mm and a pivot-to-spindle distance of 265 mm, making it compatible with classic turntables as well as modern high-end drives.

As with the other SF models, Korf Audio uses a horizontal Flexure pivot bearing in the TA-SF11R, which eliminates the need for conventional plain or ball bearings and exhibits virtually no breakaway torque. This horizontal bearing guide operates without contact and is designed to largely eliminate mechanical friction and disruptive artifacts. Vertically, the movement is guided by a precision hybrid ceramic bearing, offering high accuracy and low friction.

The tonearm tube is made of stainless steel , which, compared to aluminum or titanium, offers high flexural rigidity and lower energy storage. Combined with an interchangeable ceramic headshell (HS-A03), this creates a stable, low-resonance connection between the tonearm and cartridge. Internal wiring utilizes high-quality OFC Litz cables and terminates in a 5-pin DIN connector.

Mounting options include both JIS/Linn bases and SME sliding bases, depending on the turntable configuration. The Series II features redesigned azimuth and VTA adjustments with finer adjustment capabilities, as well as a new stainless steel tonearm shaft.

Special features / Features

Flexure pivot horizontal bearings – horizontal guidance without classic bearing surfaces, no breakaway torque and no additional friction contribute to controlled movements.

Hybrid ceramic vertical bearing – vertical guidance with very low friction and high precision to support needle guidance without mechanical artifacts.

Interchangeable ceramic headshell (HS-A03) – rigid, low-resonance connection between arm tube and cartridge, promotes sound clarity and detail resolution.

Stainless steel arm tube – high bending stiffness and reduced energy storage in the tube body for controlled resonance characteristics and impulse transmission.

Magnetic antiskating – contactless compensation of laterally acting forces during scanning without additional mechanical interference points.

Flexible mounting options – choice of JIS/Linn or SME base depending on turntable design and user requirements.

Technology & Materials

Stainless steel, ceramic, and precision-machined bearings form a unit designed for minimal resonance and maximum bearing precision. Horizontal movement is achieved via a contactless Flexure pivot system, whose elasticity allows for controlled movements without introducing additional friction or maintenance points. Vertically, a hybrid ceramic bearing with very low friction ensures smooth, clean needle guidance. The internal wiring utilizes oxygen-free copper strands.

Sustainability & Manufacturing

Korf Audio manufactures in manageable batches, focusing on durability and mechanical stability. Maintenance-free bearings, robust materials, and user-friendly adjustment elements make the TA-SF11R a product designed for long-term use. There are no artificial effects or trendy design elements; instead, functional integrity for a long service life is paramount.

Test reports / Press reviews

Independent test results for this specific model are currently unavailable in established hi-fi magazines in German-speaking countries. However, model comparisons show that the TA-SF11R is considered technically well-balanced and possesses solid mechanical precision within the industry, particularly when used with longer tonearms featuring pure transcription geometries designed for excellent compliance, even with heavy cartridges.

Background / History / Development

The TA-SF11R builds on Korf Audio's philosophy of rethinking classic tonearm designs by reducing mechanical friction and controlling resonances. Its development utilizes decades of experience with Flexure pivot technology and ceramic materials to deliver a stable, precise tracking system. The Series II version features redesigned alignment mechanisms and enhanced structural integrity.

Basic knowledge

Flexure bearings
A Flexure bearing uses elastic deformation instead of rotating parts to enable frictionless movement. This reduces mechanical artifacts and wear.

Effective mass
The effective mass of a tonearm describes its mechanical inertia and determines which cartridge compliance is the best mechanical fit.

Antiskating
Antiskating compensates for the inward-acting side that occurs when playing a record; magnetic systems operate without additional friction.

Safety instructions

Electronic devices:
1. General Use: • Electronic devices are designed for use in enclosed, dry rooms only. Direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures may impair function. • Avoid proximity to water sources or other liquids. 2. Electrical Safety: • Use only with the specified power source (e.g., 220-240 V AC). An incorrect power source may damage the device or be hazardous. • Never connect the device to overloaded outlets or extension cords. • If there is any visible damage to the power cord or other components, do not operate the device. 3. Operation and Ventilation: • Place the device on a stable, flat surface. Do not block any ventilation slots to prevent overheating. • Ensure sufficient distance from other devices or walls (at least 10 cm) to ensure optimal ventilation. 4. Children and Pets: • Keep the device away from children and pets, especially small parts that could be swallowed.
Speakers:
1. Setup: • Place speakers on a stable and secure surface or use suitable speaker stands. Tipping over may cause injury or damage. • Position speakers so they are not obstructed and optimal sound dispersion is ensured. 2. Environmental Conditions: • Speakers are intended for use in dry, enclosed spaces. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight, which could damage materials or electronics. 3. Connections: • Use only compatible amplifiers and cables that meet the speaker's technical specifications. • Avoid incorrect polarity connections to prevent damage to the speaker or amplifier. 4. Children and Pets: • Speakers are not toys. Make sure they are placed out of reach of children and pets. 5. Care: • Clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or water.
Cable:
1. Use: • Cables are for their intended use only. Use them only with devices that meet the cable's technical specifications. • Ensure that all connections are secure and tight for optimum performance. 2. Handling: • Never pull on the cable to remove it from a device. Always hold the plug firmly. • Do not bend, overstretch, or place excessive strain on the cable. Cables should not run under heavy objects. 3. Children and Pets: • Keep cables away from children and pets as they can be a strangulation or injury hazard. 4. Inspection: • Check cables regularly for visible damage such as breaks, cracks, or frayed ends. Damaged cables must be replaced immediately.
Accesories:
1. Use: • Accessories such as adapters, mounts or cleaning utensils must only be used for their intended purpose. Incorrect use can cause damage. 2. Care: • Clean accessories only according to the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid harsh cleaning agents or use in damp environments. 3. Safety: • Ensure accessories are correctly fitted or connected to prevent accidents or malfunctions. 4. Children and pets: • Accessories, especially small parts, pose a choking hazard and should be kept out of reach of children and pets.

Common instructions for all categories: • Operating instructions: Read the operating instructions carefully before using the product. • Repairs: Do not open or repair the product yourself.
